Internet Emulator

Emerald-green network links connecting routers, switches, and servers

The SEED Internet Emulator encapsulates Autonomous Systems (AS), Internet Exchange Points (IXP), routers, hosts, DNS and application services as composable Python components. You can start from ready-made examples, define network topologies, interconnection relationships and service deployments with code, generate container configurations and launch operations. Nodes in the network run real protocol stacks, routing software and applications to exchange actual data packets.

It helps students understand how a single web access goes through routing and domain name resolution. It also enables teachers and researchers to reproduce classic attacks in Internet history, compare network behaviors before and after anomalies occur, and verify protection and recovery solutions. Developers can reuse existing networks, modify node configurations or connect their own services. With InternetMap, node terminals and logs, you can correlate network structures, protocol states and application outcomes to gradually answer "what happened, why it happened, and how to verify it".
