This example adds visualization metadata to routers, hosts, and Internet exchanges in an existing network by setting display names and descriptions. For example, internal node names can be displayed as core routers, service domain names, or city names, helping users connect entities on the map with their roles in the scenario. These settings affect presentation while preserving the original node identifiers and network connections. You can use them to add meaningful annotations to teaching scenarios, geographically distributed topologies, or complex experiments, helping participants understand the network structure and locate nodes of interest.
Visualization
In this example, we demonstrate how to set the meta data for
the elements in the emulation. The meta data will be displayed
by the visualization software.
Each node in the emulation has a name, but the name may not be
very meaningful. To help visualizing the emulation, we can
provide meta data for these nodes. The following
examples use setDisplayName() and setDisplayName to
set meta data.
